Christine Cameron will accommodate someone during a bureau and they’ll speak emporium and eventually they’ll ask that New York pattern propagandize she went to. Parson’s? Pratt?
“I’ll be like, ‘no, we went to Auburn'”–as in Auburn University in Alabama, as in home to what in new years has sensitively become one of a tip conform programs in a country.
“It’s unequivocally something that catches people by surprise, since we theory people from Alabama don’t pierce to New York that often, and we can’t censure them since we kind of skip Alabama,” Cameron says. “But everybody here has been super welcoming to me.”
And since wouldn’t they be? Christine Cameron is good for business.
Last summer, on a strength of her comparison slip collection, Cameron landed an internship in New York during Victoria’s Secret that doubled as her final march credit during Auburn. She designed accessories for a company’s renouned Pink line, and shadowed anyone who replied “sure” to a emails about wanting to learn as many as probable from people usually like them.
Now she is usually like them.
Last August, a Monday after graduation, a Lake Mary, Florida local flew behind to a Big Apple, walked past a paparazzi-stalking models (like occasional Auburn fan Martha Hunt) outward a Victoria’s Secret opening on Broadway, and staid into her possess cubicle. The internship with Pink had incited into an on-site agreement gig for a company’s Very Sexy collection. No some-more flip flops and H2O bottles. Less than a week out of college, she was conceptualizing bras and teddies for North America’s heading tradesman of women’s insinuate attire in a hopes that maybe, usually maybe it competence one day spin into a full-time position.
It didn’t take long.
In February, Cameron was named Assistant Designer of Bras Lingerie for a Dream Angels collection. The women wearing a wings. The large time.
It fundamentally started with a doodle.
“I sketched a lot on a bottom of my to-do lists and pinned them all adult on a walls of my apartment in hopes that someone would see them and let me pattern something.”
One of those sketches was a teddy. Sheer. Plunging neckline. Adjustable Y-back strap. Her trainer saw it.
In March, everybody who walked inside a company’s flagship store on 5th Avenue, a largest Victoria’s Secret store in a world, saw it.

The week it was released, the Wildflower Lace Plunge Teddy was Victoria’s Secret’s fourth best-selling square of lingerie.
“It was a many furious knowledge to travel in a store and see something that we designed, something we sketched on a to-do list, finish adult in a store,” Cameron says.
“It doesn’t feel genuine to be honest.”
But it is real, and it’s removing some-more genuine by a day.
Cameron’s second design, a Wildflower Lace Bodysuit, strike stores final month. It’s now a company’s 6th best-selling slip piece. Her first, meanwhile, has changed adult to No. 3 and was quickly a season’s No. 1 trending square on VictoriasSecret.com. She has another pattern due out after this year.
“It’s kind of been a furious ride,” she says. “It felt like an unattainable goal, so we feel unequivocally propitious to have my dream pursuit reduction than a year out of college.”
Cameron credits her duration success not usually to Auburn’s increasingly considerable conform program, though also to all a Yankees she works with.
“There’s a unequivocally clever organisation of women that work here,” she says. “Everyone has been great. They’ve been super-supportive.
“But they consider consider it’s humorous we contend ‘y’all.'”
